Curiosity

What a cutie. I'm now addicted to clicking birds. Bear with me, it may pass or it may not. :) But they definitely made it possible for me to get a few really good laughs in. My first bird feeder is paying off. He looks great when you click H and/or M

Vantage Point

I swear my new friend is posing. Got some good ones today, even caught a bluejay or two. She/He now has two birdfeeders and a bird bath.

Gotta Fluff

Grooming after a nice nap and before he/she pops down to grab something to eat. Have a great day all.

My New Friend

Shows up every morning, I was in a position to actually get some clicks of him this this morning. From about 11:45 until 1:00 pm he hung around eating, sleeping and cooing while I took pictures off and on. He seemed as curious about me as I was of it. Maybe he is waiting with me for Pop to get home from church.

Gorgeous day today. whopping 65 degrees F. Great day to spend with my eldest grand-daughter.

emotional sensibility

This beauty put on quite the show for me yesterday. My husband and I went down to a boat ramp and found quite a flock of swans, seagulls, and black birds. It was just the right medicine for me, this beauty decides to walk over while all the others were squawking, playing and fighting. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and a splendid week ahead.

My husband asks me everyday if I posted this photo. So here it is honey. :)

Strike A Pose

Having dinner at Tarpon Turtle Restaurant nested on Tarpon Lake in Tarpon Springs, FL I was trying so hard to get a shot of this egret when he flew and posed on the roof of a boat that was docked nearby..couldn't thank him enough. :)

Relaxing

Both checking me out.

Hot Ten Roof

"Oh Brother He's Showing Off Again"

These three are cropped from a larger photo with about 5 other seagulls. I noticed them after I uploaded them...I love the way the two on the left are looking at the seagull on the right as he spreads his wings. Thought it quite comical.

Raggedy

My Sis and I named him or her Raggedy because it's feathers got caught in the breeze. It was beautiful, warm and breezy at Lighthouse Point Park this morning.

Graceful

what is there to say about this beautiful creature that hasn't been said...except they always seem to be looking right at you regardless of the angle. :)

Get Outta Here!!!

He definitely doesn't like me. Looks like he is definitely telling me to "Get Outta My Face Lady". Instead of flying away he just stands there and gives me menacing looks.

See-Gull LOL

At Mystic Aquarium this seagull had a lot of character. I captured one where he looks like he is telling me to get the camera outta his face. LOL

Fly Away

It was such a nice day decided at the last minute to head to West Haven Beach it was cold so I only snapped a few didn't even take the time to clear my head.

Pink Dream

Happy Wednesday to you.

Hello World

I woke this morning and walked into the living room and found that a couple of my Oriental Lilies had opened up. This one is the smallest of the three. I took approx. 12 shots in natural light coming through the picture window, overcast so no sunlight. They all came out very well. I won't bore you further with my lilies....but I have enjoyed this bunch...Hope everyone is enjoying the New Year.

When I grow up....

Pastel Pleasure

A little pastel is always a good thing.

Azalea Blues

I thought this particular bloom was pretty special. Have a great weekend.

Petal Pushers

My daughter flys out in 11 hours back to her home in Florida. I thoroughly enjoyed her visit....she was so helpful, allowing me to catch up on some things by staying with her grandmother in the hospital. I would do anything to be able to put on my petal pushers and flip flops and head home to Florida with her. They say home is where the heart is so I guess I'm blessed to have many homes. Have a great Wednesday.

Reverse Lens Ring

This photo was taken quite by accident. While shopping for my tele-macro lens several weeks ago, I came across an offer for a "reverse lens ring" read the description and it claimed I could take my regular Nikkor lens and turn it around and use as a macro $7.99 US dollars I said why not but purchased my Tamron anyway. Last night I'm searching through my camera bag and there it was never used. Screwed the thing on, attached my 55-200mm Nikkor lens on set the ISO to 800 because I couldn't see a thing in the viewfinder not that changing the ISO would help that fact, kept the shutter at 1/200 sec, popped the flash (half strength) pointed the camera at this beautiful "dying" peruvian lily and this was the result after a little processing with contrast and clarity and yes noise. I'm such a babe-in-the-woods when it comes to some things...who knew? The Macro Masters are not allowed to answer this question...LOL

Minute Details

It's been a week since I started racking my brain for every detail, memory, the smallest of facts to help me and doctors understand how mom went from 100% to 0% without warning. The body is an amazing thing. Pay attention to what it tells you, don't ignore even the smallest of discomfort. Hope everyone had a great week and an even better weekend ahead. Be well. Kim

Thank You

Thank you ALL for the prayers and well wishes.

Gold, Glitter, Blur....

It's amazing to me how quickly life can turn on a dime. One minute your enjoying some creative alone time, and the next your world is completely descended in to chaos and fear. I usually don't give into fear but I was on my face with it not 60 mins after taking this shot. 12 hours later I almost lost my mother, told by a surgeon that she can't wait for me to travel home to operate because she was dying and that in all likelihood she wouldn't survive the surgery. Those who are connected to me in other media know I asked for your prayers and you came through....I'm using this heart as a way to say Thank you so very much...I truly believe your warm wishes, prayers and positive thoughts from ALL around this great world saved my mother's life. Again, thank you and be well.

Ruby Red Lily

This beauty was one of the first perennials I selected yesterday. She stands about 3 feet high and is filled with these HUGE beautiful ruby red colored flowers. The petals are firm, sturdy and shiny. She is called an El Paso or Asiatic Lily. I'm going to do my best NOT to kill her. :?/ HAVE A HAPPY WONDERFUL 4TH OF JULY! :)

Bling Tres

Another in the set of "shadowy roses" LOL. Off to see Superman with Pop :) Everyone have a good evening.

Rose

It's amazing to me how selfish and self serving people are. They will do anything to get to and be #1. The thing they don't realize is being number one by sabotaging other people, and stepping on other people isn't rewarding. It leaves you lonely, isolated and feeling inferior to others. I've only reached 99 maybe 3 times but if this person feels so threatened by my work that they need to dislike it to move themselves up then KUDOS for me, I'm WAY more important on this site than I ever thought possible. It isn't that you disliked Bling 2 once she made it to 99.2...it's that you didn't have the BALLS enough to say why you disliked it which leaves me with the only conclusion. Your a coward and your a cheater! Everything in life comes full circle (360)..Everything.

Shortcomings

Everyone has them.

Hell They Bore Us

Actually this flower is a Helleborus (Lenten Rose) they bloom in Connecticut in early winter and in early spring. I haven't picked the camera up much so my hubby waved the Van Wilgens Garden Center under my nose this morning. Felt sorry for some of the husbands who could care less about flowers, they looked bored to tears. I think she is beautiful... this photo doesn't do her justice but wanted to share her beauty with you.

Grace

It's been a week straight out of Lifetime Movie Network. Grace and favor were bestowed and my sister was able to get Jose back to the states. He is being kept comfortable which is All we can ask for now. Thank you all for your prayers, best wishes and postive thoughts. This photo was taken with in the first 15 mins of the medical plane taking off with Jose and I remember sitting in the hotel garden thanking the Lord for his grace and mercy and saw this beautiful creature grooming herself...took her quite sometime to finally come up for air long enough to pose. But if I hadn't learned anything this week I have learned to be patient.....OH and never forget to buy travel insurance when traveling abroad. :)

Anderson Park

Maybe I've forgotten how advance a five year old really is. Took the baby grands to Anderson Park which is a great experience in nature. We are walking down a long trail looking for gators and birds when my grandson blurts out "I love nature walks, this is great" I mean really, how many could he have been on? LOL It was cloudy this evening, lots of foliage, moss, etc..light was not my friend this evening, it wasn't until we got back to the car that the sun decided to pay a visit. Hope you like the image, and have a great Thursday.

Chandelier

While every one was socializing and waiting on their meals I was walking around snapping pictures. LOL This image is of a chandelier, very beautiful chandelier looked to be crystal and brass about 10 to 15 plus feet long and about 8 feet wide at the base (if I remember correctly). I chose black and white because I thought the light on the crystal and the brace would be pretty it was dark in there so I didn't get the effect I wanted but I'm satisfied with the image to a point. There are one or two things that are driving me crazy about it. :)

Black and White Mona Lisa

I thought this huge flower with all it's color and character would look great in black and white so glad I changed those settings and snapped this picture. She is definitely going up on my wall.

Window with a View

Attended a wedding yesterday and during the wedding noticed this view (as if the window was made to showcase the tree) and tried to capture it while seated which explains the strange angle and frame...cropping did not help. It was a beautiful church and equally beautiful ceremony. Oddly I took a lot of black and white yesterday. I'm clearly out of my area depth here but that just makes me dig my heels in and try harder.

Walked out of my house last night to listen to the live band entertaining a neighbor and walked into a spider web. It was dark and I could not see it but an hour later I was still peeling web off my arm and fingers. I'm sure I've never mentioned my fear of spiders. My heart was in my throat. Well I woke this morning and peeked out the door and here is a small frame of the larger photo. The web reaches from the top of the roof to the banister....don't even want to imagine what it looked like last night before I walked into it NOR do I ever want to see it's owner. Still jumpy. lol

Tulipscent

My mother and I went to Helping Hands today. We love thrift stores, flea markets and tag sales. While at the register I noticed this little booklet entitled 'Yes!' I turned the book over to read the back cover and wish to share what I read with you. YES! It's an everyday word, but nothing happens without it. It's the favorite word of people who get things done. "Yes" opens the door to change, lets the light in and gets the ball rolling. Every idea, invention, project, movement or marriage would starve without it. "Yes" may lead to adventure, risk or even trouble, but "No" leads to nowhere. Say Yes! to life and see where it takes you. --Published by Good Life-- 2012 and 2013 were rough, so much so, I began saying "no" because I feared the outcome of risks I needed to take or wanted to take. 2014 is a year for "YES". YES, I will get rid of all the unproductive, energy draining, life sucking clutter that surrounds me literally and figuratively. YES, I demand to retain what's mine and God-given and if you're not on board step aside so I can get my blessing and share it with those who are. YES, I am a child of God, my sin is just different from yours. YES, I will move forward and only look back to remember the lessons of past mistakes. YES, I will be grateful in 2014.... 2014 is the year of YES! May 2014 find YOU healthy, happy, blessed and filled with Light (unspeakable PEACE and JOY). :) Have a wonderful day.

Resting in the Shade on a Hot Day

I've been missing the warmth of spring and summer something terrible this week. I took this photo 5 days before my birthday last summer while sitting on a friends porch on West Haven Beach, it was seriously hot and hazy that day. This is one of my favorite from that day so much so I have it hanging on my wall. Everyone have a great Sunday, stay warm, and be happy.

Balancing Act

A Balancing Act Life is a balance of work and play A constant balance between night and day The balance between good and bad A balance between happy and sad Friends and family, pets and the lawn Twenty four seven, your whole life long Then one day in the middle of the night Your thrown off balance, nothing seems right What once was, is no longer the norm Your left in turmoil in the eye of a storm You struggle to regain control in your life To make sense again, turn wrong into right To define the person you are now To make it through life, some way, some how On auto pilot you just fly along Hoping to catch a breeze, to give words to your song Then in the future the scales line up again BEWARE! You know the photo when you get home and you have an ambulance, and at least 4 people you've never seen in your life looking at you take a picture they know they maybe in and what you were aiming for ends up being a half a tree, no grass, and the roof of a building, all in this strangely framed image. :) Still love it though..... so this is the result. I hope I've made you laugh because that was my intention.

Black and white of City Hall @7:26pm while enjoying Lalah Hathaway and Ruben Stoddard Concert at the Arts and Ideas Festival. Nothing like a camera in your hand while there is good music playing especially if it's contemporary jazz. Chilly evening but a good time had by all.

Have a great day!

Greenwich Street - NYC

I thought of cropping the scene on the street out of this shot. My only inspiration in capturing the shot is this strange light reflecting off the DC37 building. Upon import I fell in love with the shot as is and decided to crop out nothing...not even the No Standing Anytime sign which is cut off only because I would lose the dead end sign. This is actually not a picture of Greenwich Street.

Growing Up Too

Haven't a clue. My mother has the green thumb, though I believe this is a weed so she wouldn't be too interested in it. :)

Growing Up

Found this tiny little fella among a bunch of weeds..haven't a clue what it is but was able to focus on him and get a shot....the rain is coming. If your in New England enjoy.

Yellow Bananas

While sitting in the fish market waiting on my order I had the urge to take a picture of the bubble gum machines...as you can see I like the sweet and sour yellow bananas. Headed to a Contemporary Jazz concert..Have a blessed evening.

Faith

Keep us in prayer. My sister and her husband (who is dying of pancreatic cancer and who is also a photographer on 500px Jose Latham) took a last vacation to Puerto Rico together and now he is in the hospital in his last stage of life (according to the doctors) and they doubt he'll recover enough to make it home. Headed there in a few hours to help her which ever way she may need me. I feel guilty bringing my camera how odd is that. Don't know when I'll be able to post again or when I'll want to. Thanks to you all for the kinds comments and I'm sorry I haven't been able to visit your work as well.

Tinker Bell

This little fella was so good to me. He just sat there and posed for as long as it took me to get him in focus and then flew off the minute I snapped the shutter and captured the shot. Cropped.

Butter and Eggs

When I clicked the blackeyed suzies day before yesterday I noticed these as well. 8/28/2013 ; Changed title as these are not snap dragons but a flower called Butter and Eggs. Kim

My Sis and I named him or her Raggedy because it's feathers got caught in the breeze. It was beautiful, warm and breezy at Lighthouse Point Park this morning.

These three are cropped from a larger photo with about 5 other seagulls. I noticed them after I uploaded them...I love the way the two on the left are looking at the seagull on the right as he spreads his wings. Thought it quite comical.

R.I.P.

“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

Traveling through New York you will always find something new to click. I will say that whether or not you like this particular image as I do, I attribute the things that catch my eye to the wonderful inspiration and talent I find everyday on 500px. Thank you.
